			ELECTRONIC BOILERPLATE

Construction and Utilities

The electronics shall be of solid state circuit components, in
general, and shall be mounted on printed-circuit modular plug-in
units. All equipment shall be so constructed as to permit
accessibility to any and all component parts for ease of maintenance
and replacement - without disconnecting any external cables. All
construction shall be of the highest quality according to electronic
industry standards.

The system shall be completely assembled. Stanford shall in no way
provide any equipment such as, but not limited to, racks; cabinets;
cooling fans; generators; power supplies; etc. All terminals, plugs,
connectors, circuit wiring, etc., shall be uniquely labeled on the
equipment and referenced to a set of system drawings. Adequate
interlocks and safety devices shall be installed wherever necessary
to ensure the safety of personnel and equipment. All such devices
shall comply with published State of California codes.

The operating line voltage for the system shall be taken from
commercially available power, namely 117v single phase at a frequency
of 60 cycles per second +2 or -2 cycles. The system shall operate
over an input voltage fluctuation of plus or minus 10 percent of
normal.

The system shall operate as specified within a room temperature range
of +55 degrees to +100 degrees F. Any internal cooling requirements
shall be supplied by the Seller.

Maintenance and Reliability

The Buyer expects to maintain the system himself. The Seller shall
provide any necessary test equipment for maintenance and adjustment
other than a Tektronix type 547 oscilloscope with type 1A1 plug-in,
type P6020 current probe and type 132 amplifier, and a 20,000 ohm per
volt multimeter.

The system will normally be in use on a 24-hour day, 7-day week basis
and shall have a mean time between failure greater than 21 days and
an availability of 98%. (Availability is defined as the percentage
of time the device meets all performance specifications, after
subtracting both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.)

Acceptance Testing

Acceptance testing may begin whenever the display system is correctly
connected to the computer. The system must pass two tests -
Performance and Reliability - as outlined below. These tests may be
conducted concurrently.

The performance test shall verify that the system meets all its specifications.

Reliability

The reliability test shall consist of operating continuously for 14
days with no more than two malfunctions in the entire system.

Special Requirements

The Seller shall assist in the installation of the system at Stanford
and shall instruct Stanford maintenance personnel, a maximum of six
persons, in the logic, electronics and mechanics of the entire
system.

The Seller shall supply three complete sets of manuals adequate for
operation and maintenance of the equipment. The Seller shall also
supply three complete sets of circuit schematics, logic drawings, and
interconnection drawings as are necessary for maintenance of the
entire system.
